Bray Trip …..

(Written retrospectively)

February can bring the whole gamut of weathers and it pretty much did. We were all longing for Spring to come early and with it warmer, brighter weather.

We had chance for a couple of nights away, our friend and neighbour was attending the AGM of the Dublin Motorcycle Touring Club (DMTC) held in Bray, just south of Dublin. They are the organisers of the Irish Photo Rally which gives bikers, any bikers, a list of reasons/destinations to get on your bike and ride.

Brighter weather had looked on the cards but that was not how it was the morning we set off (check the photos). The heaviest snowfall of the season hit us.

Undeterred, we gave the roads a couple of hours to clear and then a little less adventurously than Captain Oates, poked our heads outside the tent metaphorically speaking and off we went.

Some very pleasant weather prevailed for the next couple of days. We had a night in Tullamore (yes, where the whiskey is from); shopping in Kildare; a drive through the Wicklow Mountains and a very unpleasant experience at a large well known hotel in Bray (enough said) which led to us rearranging our accommodation for the evening, finding a much more welcoming hotel, the Parkview, in Newtown Mount Kennedy.

As ever, it’s always nice to get away for a couple of nights 🙂
