Beach Walk …..

On our beach walk last evening we came across all these Spider Crab shells washed up at the water’s edge.

We wodered if the y were ‘throw backs’ from local fishermen, some-one said they thought the crabs shed their shells every now and again to allow for growth and that they tend to do it communally, for safety in numbers or something? What do you think?
