Armoy Road Races – Friday …..
The racing got underway on the Friday evening with two well contested events.
We stood and spectated from Church Bends and all in all everything looked well set for a great day’s racing on the Saturday.
Sadly not to be. One of the course Doctors had a collision with one of the course cars and had to be air-lifted to hospital and then the weather closed in. With all that has happened recently in Road Racing, there was a sombre atmosphere around the whole course and no-one was surprised when a delegation of riders and officials, soon after lunch, decided it was too dangerous to race in the conditions and therefore, regretably, cancelled the event without a wheel being turned.
You had to feel for the event organisers and their army of volunteers who help with preparations, all that effort and especially considering the fantastic summer we’ve had so far. Not fair!
